MyHeritage, the leading global service for discovering your past and empowering your future, and Expedia®, the world’s leading travel booking site, jointly announced today a new partnership promoting heritage travel.

The challenges of the past year and a half have given people all over the world a greater appreciation both for the importance of family and the freedom to travel. To facilitate the meaningful experience of traveling in the footsteps of one’s ancestors, the two companies have launched the Heritage Travel Hub, featuring rich content that bridges family history research with planning a memorable, heritage-oriented trip. The partnership also offers the opportunity for visitors to win a heritage trip of their own. Details regarding the contest are available on the Heritage Travel Hub website.

The Heritage Travel Hub harnesses MyHeritage’s power as a family history giant and Expedia’s position as the ultimate travel companion to make it easier than ever to plan an enjoyable and meaningful trip based on one’s ancestral roots. Hosted on Expedia.com and created by Expedia Group Media Solutions, the advertising organization of Expedia Group, the hub helps prospective travelers to map an itinerary based on their family history discoveries.

The hub focuses on 10 destinations: the U.K., Ireland, France, Germany, Spain, Italy, Sweden, the Netherlands, Denmark, and Norway. According to MyHeritage data, a majority of Americans and Canadians have deep roots in one or more of these countries. Visitors to the site will learn how to discover where their ancestors came from, peruse true stories about heritage trips and family reunions, and find suggestions for historical sites, cultural landmarks, and culinary experiences that they can add to their itinerary while visiting their ancestral homelands. In addition, the site offers MyHeritage DNA kits and subscriptions to MyHeritage’s family history platform, providing multiple gateways for discovering one’s origins.

“Taking a trip to explore your roots can be a transformative experience,” says Aviram Levi, Chief Marketing Officer of MyHeritage. “It creates an opportunity to immerse yourself in the world of your ancestors and gain a better understanding of who you are and where you come from. The legacy we inherited from our ancestors forms the basis of who we are, and we hope that our partnership with Expedia will enable people to visit the places their ancestors lived and forge a deeper connection to that legacy.”

“At Expedia Group, we believe that travel broadens horizons and helps travelers discover more about who they are,” says Angelique Miller, Senior Director, Creative Partnerships at Expedia Group Media Solutions. “Launching the hub with MyHeritage offers travelers a fun, engaging and interactive way to learn about their family history, start their heritage travel journey, and add a whole new dimension to their travel experience.”
